Tiefe Kirschen 2017 Photo: Jennifer Gelardo

Tiefe Kirschen

"Tiefe Kirschen" is a sculpture show by students of Heimo Zobernig. The works approach the question of sculpture through different media and contexts.

In front of me stands a cherry, glowing in a rich wine-red, the most unfathomable cherry I have ever seen. The groceries weigh heavy in my hands, I have to keep going. "I am going to make a joke," she says in that moment. And after a break, she repeats: "I am going to make a joke." I do not know what to reply. The cherry wants to plant something into my mind. I desperately need an alternative. A fork in the path appears. The right branch leads into my flat, the left into a deep fissure. I leave my groceries to the cherry and jump in. A burning current drags me along and drops me off, the others are there already. From the fissure's entrance echoes the laughter of the cherry.
